CEILA — Privacy Policy

CEILA is a crystal-companion app. This page describes, plainly and completely, what the app does and does not do with your information.

No account, no sign-in

CEILA does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal identifying information to use the app.

What stays on your device

Your onboarding selections, your selected crystal, your custom popup text, your Automatic Tap and Ambient Music preferences, your local subscription-status flag (see "Purchases & subscriptions" below), and your full Ask Universe conversation history are all stored locally on your own device only. None of this is transmitted to us, stored on our servers, or visible to anyone else. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. You can also clear your Ask Universe conversation at any time from the ••• menu in Ask Universe.

Ask Universe and our AI provider

When you send a message in Ask Universe, that message — along with a short window of the most recent conversation, so replies can stay contextual — is sent to our third-party AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate a response. This is the only case in which anything you type leaves your device. We do not otherwise collect, log, or store your Ask Universe conversations on any server, and we do not use them for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond generating that one reply.

To enforce the message limit described in our Terms of Use, CEILA assigns a random, anonymous identifier to your app installation. Our server stores a hashed version of this identifier and a short-lived daily message count. The identifier is not derived from your device, Apple ID, or personal information, is not shared with DeepSeek, and the server-side quota records are automatically deleted within a few days.

Product analytics. CEILA uses PostHog to understand how people use the app, such as whether onboarding is completed, how often the stone ritual and Ask Universe are used, and whether Daily Affirmation is viewed or shared. CEILA sends product-interaction events using a random, app-installation identifier that is separate from the identifier used to enforce the Ask Universe message limit. We do not send Ask Universe message content, assistant responses, Daily Affirmation text, your name, email address, Apple ID, or advertising identifier to PostHog. As part of receiving analytics requests, PostHog may receive and process technical information such as your IP address and basic device/app information. We disable PostHog's IP-based geographic enrichment.

Purchases & subscriptions

CEILA's premium subscription is purchased and managed entirely through Apple, using StoreKit. We do not collect, see, or store your payment card details — those are handled directly by Apple. To determine whether your subscription is active, the app checks your on-device Apple transaction/entitlement status via StoreKit; this check happens locally on your device and does not require us to operate or maintain any purchase records on our own servers. A small local flag recording whether your subscription is currently active is kept on your device (see "What stays on your device" above) purely so the app can open directly to your content without an extra wait on each launch; it is always re-verified against Apple's own record, never trusted on its own.

Feedback & Support

Tapping "Send us a note" opens your device's own email app with our contact address and a subject line already filled in. CEILA does not read, collect, or attach anything to that email automatically — it opens a blank draft for you to write, and the message goes directly through your own email account when you choose to send it.

No tracking, no ads, no data sale

CEILA does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes. Apple, as the operator of the App Store and StoreKit, independently processes your purchase under its own privacy policy — that processing is Apple's, not something CEILA directs or has visibility into beyond the entitlement check described above.
